80, of Darlington Township, died Monday, October 16, 2017 in Allegheny General Hospital.Born February 28, 1937 in Richland Township, Cambria County, he was the son of the late Steve and Sophie (Dusack) Puto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Monica Parish. He had retired from the Pennsylvania State Police with 31 years of service with the rank of Sergeant. He had also been Chief of Police in Darlington Township for nine years, and had been a tour bus driver for McCarter Transit Inc. for 15 years.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Steve.He is survived by his wife Joanne A. (Peron) Puto, a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and David Gorrell, Palmyra, PA, a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Puto, Medina, OH, six grandchildren, Michael, Katie, Erin, and Hannah Gorrell, Noah and Gabriel Puto, two sisters, Margaret Nastase and Dorothy Glosky, both of Johnstown, PA, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a private visitation for his family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Parish, 116 Thorndale Drive, Chippewa Township, with Father Kim Schreck. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
