Anthony P. Dzierski

October 21, 1924 - February 15, 2019

Anthony P. Dzierski Windber Hall of Famer, Tony, passed away surrounded by his loving family. He lived each of his 94 years to the fullest and with purpose, a lifelong servant of God, Country, and Family. He spent most of his life in Springfield, VA. Tony was the first in the 1943 graduating class at Windber HS to join the military. At 20 years old, he fought in WWII then followed by the Korean and Vietnam wars He retired from the USAF after 30 years. Most notably, he was a navigator for the 1957, three B-52 bomber team which circumnavigated the globe, 45 hours nonstop. He received many military honors, including a Distinguished Flying Cross & the Meritorious Service Medal. He was an active member of the American Legion, VFW Post 7327, The Forty and Eight and a Grand Knight of the KOC. He donated over 350 units of platelets and gallons of blood. In 2013 his beloved wife Mary passed away after 62 years of marriage. Tony will join her at Arlington National Cemetery later this year. Son William White preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving son Paul, daughter-in-law JoAnne, grandchildren Lauren and Matthew Dzierski and Allison White Tasane.
