Barbara Zambotti Mallin, 64, of Ocean Twp. passed away at Riverview Medical Center on February 16, 2018 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born and raised in Johnstown, PA to Guido and Anna Zambotti, Barbara moved to Long Branch, NJ following her graduation magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Barbara met her husband while they were both studying for their MBA's from Monmouth University. She began her career at Fort Monmouth in 1975, where she stayed for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2015. Barbara, her husband, Raemon of 32 years, and their two children, Andrew and Jeremy have been a part of the Ocean Township community since 1992. Barbara loved spending hot, sunny days at the beach in Loch Arbor when she wasn't tending to her beautiful gardens, cheering for the NY Giants and the NY Yankees or spoiling her beloved granddaughter, Lila. Barbara had a distinguished career at Ft Monmouth starting as a contract specialist in 1975 then transitioning to the program analyst position in 1985. She served with multiple Project Manager Offices under PEO/IEW supporting PMs Radar, FireFinder Night Vision, Battle Command & CREWS. She supported the army's engagements in Desert Shield & Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Her last war effort was as the acting PM supporting the counter IED effort in Iraq in 2003. Barbara is survived by her husband, Raemon P. Mallin of Ocean; her son Andrew Mallin of Eatontown; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Kaileigh Mallin and granddaughter Lila Mallin of Tewksbury, MA; her parents Guido and Anna Zambotti of Jerome, PA, and her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Sandra Zambotti of Johnstown, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, from 12-3 PM on Saturday, February 24. Barb's family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made on her behalf to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer research.
