Barbara Miller, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Celebration, FL. She was born on September 25, 1935 in Shanksville, PA to Harry and Mildred (Mowry) Emerick. Barbara grew up in Johnstown amd graduated from Johnstown HS in 1953. She attended Indiana State Teachers College where she received a degree in education. She then completed her Master's degree in education from the same school. She began her career in teaching in Harrisburg, PA. Barbara married Don P. Miller of Johnstown on June 23, 1963. They were happily married for 54 years. Over the course of their marriage they lived in New York City, Cheshire, CT, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Pittsburgh, PA before retiring to Celebration in 2002. Barbara was involved in her two children's educations and activities throughout their transformative years in Upper St. Clair, PA. She also taught school at Westminster Presbyterian. Her fashion tastes always included vibrant colors. In retirement "Gramma Bee" actively supported her children and her grandchildren and she thoroughly enjoyed traveling and arranging family get-togethers. Her greatest joys were being with her family, attending youth sports events, playing the piano and singing for her grandchildren and cheering on her son's employer, the New Orleans Saints. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mildred Emerick. Barbara is survived by her loving spouse, Don Miller, originally from Johnstown; her daughter Rebecca (Patrick) Grinnals of Celebration; her son Douglas (Carolyn) of Mandeville, LA; her younger sister Lucinda (John) Griffin of Johnstown; her grandchildren Annie and Grace Grinnals; Tyler and Lauren Miller; and loving in-laws Phillip (Kathy) Miller of Louisville, KY and Susan (Kenneth) Hepner of Winston-Salem, NC. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Celebration Presbyterian Church, 511 Celebration Ave., Celebration, FL 34747 on March 10, 2018.
