74, Carrolltown passed away May 4, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 23, 1944 in Gallitzin, the son of Felix and Alwilda (Edmiston) Beck. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Aileen Beck. He is survived by his loving wife Linda (Owens) Beck, children Adam (Lisa) Beck, Malvern, PA, Heather (John) Loushe, Suffolk, VA, step children Benjamin Bertram, Patton and Grace Bertram, Carrolltown, grandchildren Jordan, Kayla and Kevin Beck, Hunter and Alex Loushe, brothers and sister Alwilda (Lou) McConnell, Norway, MI, Richard (Joyce) Beck, Pittsburgh, Albert (Helen) Beck, Loretto, Timothy (Brenda) Beck, Lilly and Mark Beck, Johnstown and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was previously employed as an administrator at the Ebensburg Center, was a special education director that worked with special needs children in the Northern Cambria and Cambria Heights School district before retiring as Principal from the Cambria Heights School District. He continued working with his nephews and brother at Beck Logging and driving for Health Ride after his retirement. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and served as a school board member for Cambria Heights and Admiral Perry School Boards. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, bird watching and loved all animals. Friends will be received from 3 pm to 8 pm Monday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 North Main Street Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held from 9 am until the 10 am funeral Mass, Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown by Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB. Committal church cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by local veteran's organizations. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Monica's Heart Greyhound Rescue 1887 Bellemead Drive Altoona, PA 16602. (
