76, Portage, passed away December 4, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 13, 1941 in Portage the daughter of Michael and Mary (Krisko) Barno. Deceased family members include her parents; brothers, Edward; Robert; and John Barno; and sisters, Edna Kuntz; Anna Brutvan; Mary Sondey; and Emma and Alice Barno. Survived by loving husband of 60 years, Thomas J. Michaels and children, Vincent "Vinnie" (Kim Swanson), Las Vegas; Jeffrey "Jeff" (Cathy Trackim), Reedsville; Lawrence "Larry" (Kim Koban), West Chester; James "Jim" (Karen Gossard), Maple Glen; Greta (John) Hurley, Lilly; and Eugene (Amy Knepp), Tyrone. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Nicholas; Matthew; Courtney; Aaron; Sarah; Katie; Jared; Jacob; Zachary; Caleb; Kamryn; and Gared. She is the last member of her immediate family. Betty loved supporting her grandchildren through all their events. She also enjoyed baking and canning. Former president of the Benscreek Club Ladies Auxiliary, where she made pizza for many years; active member and past president and vice-president of the Portage Women's Club, member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Portage American Legion and Charter Member of the Portage Loyal Order of Moose. Betty was an avid watcher of John Wayne movies and was also a "Big Pittsburgh Steeler" fan. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m., Friday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Holy Family Family Parish, Caldwell Ave., Portage, Father Andrew Draper, celebrant. Committal in St. Mary's Cemetery, Portage. Family suggests memorial contributions be made in Betty's name to the American Diabetes Association.
