Clare Ann Dumm
52, Altoona, formerly of Ebensburg, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born September 10, 1966, in Spangler, PA, Clare Ann is survived by her parents, Clair "Joe" and Mary "Dee" (McDermott) Dumm of Ebensburg. She is also survived by her brothers; John (Stephanie) of Ashburn, VA, Pat (Virginia) of Altoona, PA, Paul (Nikki) of Oviedo, FL, and Tom (Lisa) of Frederick, MD, and numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved like they were her own children. She is also survived by her dear friend Shelby Benzel, who has been with her through thick and thin for the past twenty years. Clare Ann was a 1984 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School and a 1990 graduate of St. Francis University. The process of recovery from an auto accident led her to her life's work, helping others as a social worker. Even when she was struggling the most, her concerns were for those around her, and she met them with a positive outlook. Clare Ann never met a stranger. She loved life, but was prepared for death because she knew that her faith would set her free. Clare Ann would smile in heaven if you were to make a donation to the Hillman Cancer Center in her memory. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 3pm - 8pm at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., 146 North Main Street, Carrolltown, PA, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 10am until the 11am funeral Mass at St. Benedict's Church in Carrolltown, PA. Concelebrants, Benedictine Fathers. Interment at the Church cemetery. I taught Clare Ann at BC for one year when she was a senior. We didn’t know each other for very long but I loved her. She was a beautiful girl inside and out. My deepest sympathy to all of Clare Ann’s family and friends.
