Proud U.S. Navy veteran Dolores Jean Galbo (nee Briggs), 91, passed away at Carmel Richmond Health Care Center on Friday, May 25, 2018. Born and raised in Johnstown, Mrs. Galbo graduated from Conemaugh High School and moved to Baltimore, working for the Social Security Administration. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951, where she met her beloved husband and fellow sailor, Vincent Galbo. Se was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia during the Korean War.
The couple moved back to Pennsylvania, then Brooklyn and settled in Staten Island, NY in 1963 to raise their family. Mrs. Galbo was employed by MetLife for many years and retired in 1988,
Mrs. Galbo was a longtime and active parishioner at Holy Rosary Church. She was a spiritual person and sang in the church's choir. She enjoyed attending operas and Broadway plays with her husband and together they enjoyed dancing. She enjoyed shopping and fashion and was a world traveler.
Mrs. Galbo was the beloved wife of Vincent Galbo and loving mother of Roslyn (Craig) Mangone, Valerie (Pierre) Paquette, Michele and Daria (Richard) Matza, and cherished grandmother of Kylie, Megan, Ryan and Madison.
