age 64, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018. Don was born in Johnstown, PA in 1953. He joined the U.S. Navy immediately after graduating from Johnstown VoTech. He served in the Navy for 24 years. After retiring from the Navy, he became a civilian Ordnance Officer from 1995 to 2017. He was a true mentor and friend to many members of the Navy community. Don married his wife of 44 years, Karen (Brallier) Detrick on June 8, 1973 in Johnstown, PA in front of their friends and family. They gladly made their home wherever the Navy assigned them. Don took on additional duties, like working the brig and loved every minute of his tenure with the Navy. Don was an active member of the VFW, American Legion, and NRA. Don enjoyed hanging out with his buddies and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. He loved a good joke, and you could catch him singing and occasionally dancing to his favorite songs. He is survived by his wife, Karen Detrick; his son, Chuck Detrick and his wife Michelle Okrasinski; his grandchildren, Jade and Julian Miles, Isaac and Heidi Detrick; his mother, Agnes Detrick; and brother, Duaine Detrick, both of Johnstown, PA.
