90, Windber, passed away May 14, 2017. Born March 23, 1927, in Windber. Son of Remigius "Grubby" and Catherine (Roman) Stankiewicz. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Frances (Wozniak) Stankiewicz; sisters, Irene Stankiewicz and Theresa Behrens and also special friend, Mary Parks. Survived by these children, Edward Stankiewicz and long time companion, Patricia Boring; Joseph Stankiewicz and Kathy (Stankiewicz), wife of Michael Anderson II. Grandchildren, Samantha Stankiewicz and Zachary Anderson. Sister, Barbara, wife of the late George Hamzik, Arizona; special friends, Patty Poole and Kathy Parks, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. U.S. Army Veteran WWII having served in Italy. Retired coal miner, Bethlehem Mine 33 and member UMWA Local 1368. Edward was a member of the Windber VFW Post 4795 and was also member of the Windber VFW Ritual Team. Also member Windber Knights of Columbus, Windber Polish Education Association and St. Casmir's Society 312. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Reverend Anthony Petracca, Celebrant. Interment, St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber with Graveside Military Honors by Windber VFW Ritual Team. Friends received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Donations may be made to the Windber VFW Ritual Team equipment fund in Edward's memory.
