Edwin's Story

95, Johnstown, died May 17, 2017, at the Windber Hospital. He was born March 7, 1922, in Scalp Level, son of the late Fred and Anna (Meske) Warshel. He was the last member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by brothers, William, Charles, Fred, Walter, George, and Robert; and sisters, Louise, Freda Solden, Ann Wilson, Bertha Tiffany, and Margaret Hechler. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Vyne (Mills) Warshel, whom he married April 28, 1956; children: Kimberly; Edwin, Jr. (Deb Duca); and Prudence (Mike Jarvie); and grandchildren, Ben Miller, Jesse Miller, Liz Jarvie, and Drew Jarvie. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where he served on various committees, and sang in the choir. He was a member of Greater Johnstown Lodge 538 F&AM; and of Richland American Legion Post 849. He loved to golf and was very proud to have had two holes in one. He was a WW II US Army veteran and had retired from General Telephone. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., and on Saturday at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 10 a.m., Rev. Scott Klimke, officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
