Geraldine Mae "Gerri" Johnstown, passed away May 13, 2017, at home. Born Dec. 22, 1933, in Valencia, Pa., daughter of Charles R. and Claire (Gossar) Livingston. Preceded in death by parents; grandson, Gary James; and sister, Adeline "Babe" Magee. Survived by husband, James J.; daughters, Tammy Jo Carmack, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Cathy Sue Davis Alwine (AJ DePra) of Geistown; grandchildren, Celia Eissey (Thomas), Chelsea Penna (Steven), Cheyenne (Adam Trabold) and Sierra Alwine; former sons-in-law, Bryan Alwine and Gary Carmack; sister Evelynrose Alexander of Takoma, Wash,; and nieces and nephews. Member of Oakland United Methodist Church. Life member of Royal Neighbors of America and belonged to past Oracle Club. She had been very active in and served as president of Salvation Army Auxiliary from 1965 through 1968 in Kittanning. Also member of Upper Yoder Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and "Red Hat Tootsies." Prior to graduating in 1951 from Mars High School, Mars, Pa., she went to first grade at Beers School in Myoma, Pa. This was a one room school with nine students for eight grades. In 1958, she met the love of her life, Jim, and was married in the church that she grew up attending. The pastor of the ceremony was one of her high school classmates. Former employee of North Pittsburgh Telephone Co., in Gibsonia, Pa., until 1961 and retired for Telephone Answering Service, Johnstown, in 1995 with 20 years of service. Gerri would like to let people know that she had a blessed life. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland United Methodist Church, Pastors Randy Bain and Ross Pryor, officiating.
