Harold's Story

RUMMEL - Harold W., 96, Catonsville, Maryland, passed away August 19, 2017, at the Bright View retirement center. Born March 16, 1921 in New Florence, son of late John W. and Olive V. (Medsger) Rummel. Also preceded in death by wife, Wilda (Huey) Rummel, who passed in August, 2010; brothers Ernest and Clarence (Buck); and sisters Viola Bernabo, Margret Funk, and Mildred Mack. Survived by sons, Hal Rummel and wife Victoria (Vicki) of Maryland, their son Adam, and Kim Rummel and wife Kim Marie of Colorado. Brother Robert Rummel and Wife Nancy of Georgia. Harold and Wilda (Wid) moved to Baltimore, Maryland shortly before the US involvement in WWII. While Wid worked for the War effort at Martin Marietta there, Harold served in the US Army Air Corps as a B-17 airman in the European theater. They each joined their numerous siblings, family members, and New Florence neighbors in pursuit of a US victory, and truly went on to great successes in their career pursuits, and the raising of a most fortunate and grateful family.
