88, St. Augustine, died January 23, 2018 at home. Born February 18, 1929 in Dysart, daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Robertella) Benzie. Preceded in death by husband, James on October 24, 1997, grandchildren, Shannon (McNulty) Stouffer and Brad McNulty, sisters, Jenny Niebauer, Natalie Malloy, Lucy Benzie, Mary Adams, Rose Slovikosky, and Grace Zupon, brothers, Louis Jr. and Joseph. Survived by children: Gerald (Cynthia), James (Barbara), Linda McNulty, Sharon (Richard) Nelson, Janice McNulty, and Daniel (Wendy). 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Last member of her immediate family. Helen was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. During their 46-year marriage, Helen worked tirelessly alongside Jim to build successful farming and transportation businesses. Helen had a great sense of humor and was famous for her piano and accordion playing. Well into her eighties, Helen entertained residents of local retirement homes with her music. Lovingly cared for during her illness by daughter, Janice, niece, Carol McConnell, Renee Miller, Patty Serafin, Karen Karlheim, Debbie Hazenstab and Lydia Slovikosky. A woman of deep faith, Helen was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, Rev. Christopher Lemme TOR, Celebrant. Committal, St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613 where a Rosary will be recited Sunday.
