, 98, of New Castle (formerly of Johnstown), died January 22, 2018, at the Haven Convalescent Home, New Castle, PA. Born July 19, 1919, in Johnstown the son of John and Suzanne (Kolcun) Zahoranski
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Julia (Muchesko) Hill; brother, Wilfred Zahoranski; and sister, Rita Marie Bombatch. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Virus, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Nancy Zahoranski, SC: and numerous nieces and nephews. Herbert was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He retired from the Crane Company in New Castle where he was the plant engineer. An avid golfer and bowler, Herbert recorded a hole in one on the par 3 eighth hole and par 3 sixteenth hole at the Sylvan Heights Golf Course, New Castle. He was a US Airforce Veteran of WWII stationed at Wright Field, Dayton, OH. Committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Cemetery with military honors by VFW Menoher Post 155 Ritual Team. FRANCIS G.
