88, of Detroit, MI, formerly of Johnstown, passed away September 28, 2017. Born April 24, 1929 son of Starling and Lillian (Wright) White. Preceded in death by parents, sister Lena Tate and his brothers Edward, Frank, David, Starling and Robert White. Herb was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Gloria Clark, Aubrey Tate, Barbara Glenn, Charles White, Darlene Bradley, Lillian Tate, Starling and wife Pamela (Brown) Tate, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends. Herb served 25 years in the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War, his last duty was as a sharp shooting instructor. After retirement from the military he served 15 years with the CSX Railroad in Baltimore. Family and friends will be received from 10 AM Saturday until time of his Homegoing service at 11AM at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home, the Rev. Julius Porcher, officiating. Committal Grandview Cemetery.
