"Geno", 100, formerly of East Taylor Twp., died December 18, 2017 at Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Harrison City PA. Born April 11, 1917 in Kokomo, IN, son of Lazzaro and Anna (DeMarino) Michlena.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma (Calafiore), son James, sisters Rose Lonchar, Lena Kamzik, Armeda Holubz, and Mary Hoover, brother Frank Michlena. Survived by daughter LouAnn wife of Dennis Grove, Harrison City, grandchildren Michael married to Angela and Matthew married to Courtney, great granddaughters Emmajean, Mia, Emilia, and Brooke, sister Eva Scaletta, sister in law Mary Calafiore, and many loving nieces and nephews. Geno was a WWII Army Veteran where he earned a Bronze Star in Germany. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. in the Blast Furnace Division after 42 years of service. He was a member of P.N.A. Club in Conemaugh, Secular Member of the Franciscan Order and was an avid horseshoe player. James was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, formerly St. Anthony, where Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:00am. Fr. Matthew Misurda. Friends will be received from 2 to 7pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery Geistown where a Military Ritual will be conducted by VFW Post 155. We would like to thank all the staff at Golden Heights for the excellent care Geno received for 5 years. He was also under the care of Heartland Hospice.
