"Dick" "Ike", 82, Hastings, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Monday, December 11, 2017, after an extended illness. Born in Henrietta, PA on March 31, 1935, son of the late Lester and Naomi (Creps) Beach. He married Donna (Hamm) on June 23, 1954, who survives him along with their four children, Marcus (Mary Jane), Victor (Kathleen), Wesley (Theresa), and Nan, all of Hastings; 11 grandchildren, Joshua (Kristy), Justin, Jarrett, Jennifer (Trevor) Allen, Tyler, Sara (Brian) Meese, Bryce (Katlyn), Phillip, Jacob, Zane and Quinn; and 8 great-grandchildren. Brother of Kay (Dave) Slusser, Port Matilda; Judy (Donald) Campbell, Seattle, WA; and Monte (Barb) Beach, Curryville. Also survived by an aunt, Joyce Ott and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were brothers, Rex and George, and a nephew, Brian. Dick was a 1953 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School. He worked previously for Floyd Bush Electric and Harold Blattenberger Electrical Contractor. In 1961 he moved his family to Hastings and began working for Penelec, retiring in 1995 as a Line Supervisor. He continued working, operating his own business, J. Richard Beach Electrical Contractor. Through the years he taught his children and many grandchildren the electrical business. Growing up he enjoyed working on a farm across the road and playing softball. In later years he had immense pleasure watching his children and grandchildren as they played sports and attending every event possible. Going to Altoona Curve baseball games was a favorite past time. Along with spending quality time with his family and friends, he enjoyed hunting locally and on trips out west for 32 years. He was one of the eight founding members of the Pinderosa Hunting Camp in Waterville, PA. Flying his Piper Tri-pacer airplane was one of his many loves. Gardening was always a must for him, not only enjoying the produce, but the pleasure of seeing others enjoy it too. Helping others came first with him and he was very community oriented, wanting and striving for the best for all those around him. His big heart and smile will be missed by all. Friends will be received from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Pastor Linda Freeburg, officiating. Committal, Sunday at 1:30 p.m., Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hastings Swimming Pool, at Hasting Park and Recreation Commission, PO Box 559, Hastings, PA 16646.
