78, R.D. Lilly, died peacefully August 31, 2017 at home. Born June 3, 1939 in Lilly, daughter of the late Clyde Sr. and Veronica (Sibis) Lutton. Preceded in death by infant grandson, Matthew Hammond and son in law Jim Riden. Survived by husband of 60 years, Fred whom she married April 5, 1957 in Jacksonville, NC, children: Kathleen Riden (Kerry) Hammond of Lilly, Ken (Diane Costello) of Portage and Kim (Bill) Simanski of Lilly. 12 grandchildren: Mark, Mikal, Megan (Anthony), Matthew, Ryan, Andrea, Joshua, Matthew, Katie, Jessica, Kara and Amie (Mike) and 11 great grandchildren. Sister of: Sophie Vocco of Cresson, Clyde Jr. (Peggy ) of Phoenix, AZ, Tom (Suzy) of Altoona, Dave (Elva) of Hollidaysburg, Jim (Mary Jo) of Owega, NY, Dolores (Allen) Cappriotti of Altoona, Nancy (Richard) Sivec of Lilly and Linda (Ron) Sweeney of Cresson and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking and taking care of her beloved farmhouse. She was a devout Catholic who practiced and lived out her faith. She worked as a teachers assistant for Intermediate Unit 8 for 41 years and retired in 2015. Every child she worked with had a special place in her heart. She belonged to a private rosary group, and was a member of the Third Order Franciscans, Loretto. Joan was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson where she taught religious education for 20 years. She had a profound love and devotion for the parish that her father helped built in the 1950s, and where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday. Rev. Leo Arnone, Celebrant.
