Joan's Story

(Czajkowski), 82, St. Charles, Missouri, native of Windber, passed away June 8, 2018 in Missouri. Beloved wife of Leslie Rice for 61 years; loving mother of Kevin (Janice) Rice, Kelly (Lou) Marrero, Shawn (Rhonda) Rice and Kristen Rice; cherished grandmother of Nathan Rice, Ali Rice, Ryan Nedolast, Amanda Mancuso, Cameron Rice and Ansley Rice; dear great-grandmother of Avery Mancuso and TJ Mancuso; dear sister of Richard (the late Jean) Czajkowski and David (Cathy) Czajkowski. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Czajkowski. She was a 1953 graduate of Windber High School. Joan said many times she was put on this Earth to be a mother and she was truly a loving and devoted mother. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. She enjoyed playing tennis, bridge and she was a talented painter. Joan was active in St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville, MO. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Charles, MO. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Rd., Cottleville, MO. Committal Service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Richland Mausoleum, Johnstown. Memorial donations have been suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Evelyn's House, 1000 N. Mason Rd, Creve Coeur, MO 63141, in Joan's name.
