Barley, John E., 68, South Fork, died Jan. 1, 2018. Born Jan. 5, 1949 in Johnstown; son of the late Andrew and Mary Jane (Barley) Jakovcic. Also preceded in death by son, Michael; uncle, Sam Barley; and best buddy, his black lab, Shadow. Survived by loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Joanne Wojno-Barley; children, John P. Barley, and wife, Caula (Rolley), Johnstown; Jason P. Barley, and girlfriend, Kathleen Borga, Johnstown; Erica L. Fabo, and husband, Daniel, Summerhill; grandchildren, John Michael, Abigail, Chariti, MycKayla, and Jakob Barley; and Kylee, Lucas, and Jared Fabo and grand dog Titan; special aunt, Pat Fultz; his puppy dog Kingsley step-sons, Michael and Patrick Wojno, OH; sister, Cheryl Hale, and husband, Charlie; Gary Jakovcic, and wife, Georgie, all of Johnstown. He was a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran, serving from Jan. 20, 1966 until Feb. 6, 1970. He proudly served his country 2 years during Vietnam with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. While in Vietnam he experienced heavy combat, some of which was hand to hand. He also suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was awarded the Purple Heart as well as numerous other metals. John was a member of the DAV, VFW Menoher Post 155, lifetime member of the American Legion, the Purple Heart and Marine Corp League.
He worked at Bethlehem Steel Corp and the U.S. Post office.
He will be sadly missed by all his friends and their old-time rock & roll and numerous family members that are too many to name. He was loving, kind, gentle, and protective. I will miss him and love him always Semper Fi my love.
Memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 12th at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, Pastor Joe Stains, officiating. Military ritual by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corps League.
