BARRETT, JOHN A., 78, Northern Cambria, passed away February 21, 2018, at home. Born June 8, 1939, in Spangler, the son of John Barrett and Bessie Joann (Barrett) Homan. Preceded in death by parents; son, Johnny Lee Barrett; sister, Kathryn Shonsky; and brother, Ronald Barrett. Survived by wife of 59 years, Margaret (Carothers) Barrett; children, Sherri Barrett (Francis Sinclair) and David Barrett, both of Northern Cambria; Carl Barrett (Barb Kruise) and Lori (Bill) Spotts, both of Emeigh; and Debbie (Clarence) Long, St. Benedict. Also survived by sister, Janet (Robert) Babiak, Northern Cambria and brother, Barry (Carole) Barrett, Carrolltown. 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. John was a former mill worker and coal miner and later worked in sales and delivery for a local distributor. He was a member of several local clubs where he enjoyed signing up and talking with his friends. John was an avid sports fan and was a great baseball player in his younger years. He was a proud, lifelong fan of the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Penn State. No viewing or visitation at the request of John. He will sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
