Brute, 78, Northern Cambria, passed away March 2, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born March 18, 1939, in Spangler, the son of Joseph and Tressa (Ferraro) Bonatesta. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Joseph Bonatesta and sister, Mary Rico. Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Tish (Bernard) Bonatesta; son, Joseph J. Bonatesta, husband of Missy (Berdosky); daughters, Terry Bonatesta, Trisha Bonatesta and Christina Marie Tina, wife of Darby P. Olenchick, all of Northern Cambria; grandchildren, John, Joey and Joshua Bonatesta, Darby John DJ and Johniemarie Olenchick; and great-grandson, Joseph Giovanni Bonatesta. Also survived by brother-in-law, Macario Rico, Harrisburg. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. President of Sons of Italy Lodge, Northern Cambria. Served the community as a member of the Northern Cambria School Board for ten years. Brute enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was well known for the Beagles that he trained. As the Owner/Operator of Bonatestas Bar & Restaurant for over 50 years, he worked alongside his wife and family creating a welcoming place for locals to gather. Time spent there among his friends was always a joy and making people laugh was his gift. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Brute
will be deeply missed. Friends will be received from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc.. At 7:00 p.m. following the Sons of Italy prayer, friends are invited to share their memories of Brute. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Church. Fr. Donald Dusza officiating. Committal, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
