93, Richland Township, died January 21, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 9, 1924, in Twin Rocks, son of the late Matthew and Mary (Finc) Krabal. He was preceded in death by brothers, Matthew, Anthony, and William; and sisters, Mary, Ann, Saundra, and Olga. He is survived by his sister, Claire Goldfarb, NY; his loving wife, Betty J. (Janosko) Krabal, whom he married October 4, 1951; daughters, Nancy Cook, and fiancé, Jamie Powers, Hollidaysburg; and Kathy Akers, and husband, John, Richland Township; and grandchildren, Nicholas Cook, and wife, Carly, Duncansville; Ryan Akers, Southmont; and Taylor Akers, Richland Township. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He was a 1943 graduate of the East Conemaugh High School. He was a WW II US Army veteran, part of the greatest generation, having served in the Military Police in New Guinea and Japan. He was a member of the Conemaugh/Franklin American Legion Post 633, Sergeant Michael Strank Post 5107 VFW, the Slovenian National Society, and served as Deputy Constable for Richland Township #9 County Board of elections. He had worked for Airco Industrial Gases, in Franklin Borough, where he was employed as a Plant Engineer. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed meeting friends and having conversations about current events. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street. Funeral mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, the Rev. David S. Peles, celebrant. Entombment will be in Richland Cemetery.
