, 92, of Quecreek, died September 20, at his residence. Born March 4, 1925, in Quecreek, he is the son of the late John and Giustina (Tassi) Lapina. Also preceded in death by a brother William. He is survived by his sister, Betty Koshute of Quecreek and niece Theresa Burkett and husband Ronald. John worked as a mason and farmer. He was a veteran of WWII serving as a Private in the 770th Field Artillery Battalinon as an ammunition handler. he served in battles and campaigns at Normandy, Northeran France, Rhienland, Ardennes, Central Europe and the Battle of the Baldge. He received the Good Condust Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Friends will lbe received from 9 to 10 am Monday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home and then preced to the Somerset County Memorial Park for interment and Graveside Military Services.
