I lived across the street from the Stains and involved in many activities with the family. John was so bright so you always knew he would be successful. Great family. My sympathy to all.

I am John’s cousin; our mothers were sisters. In the 1950’s our families spent many Sunday afternoons hiking in the woods with Uncle John in the lead teaching and showing us everything he knew about nature. John’s smile and laugh are part of my memories. He was a gentle soul.
