83, Patton passed away January 2, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 28, 1934 in Patton the son of Emeron and Zita (Cunningham) Strittmatter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Eugene Francis, sisters Erma Kozicki, Jane Miller and brother Omer Strittmatter. He is survived by his loving wife with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 27, 2018, Dorothy (Marshall) Strittmatter, children Wanda (Richard) Hnatkovich, Catherine (Samuel) Vescovi, William (Deborah) Strittmatter, Frederick (Cheryl) Strittmatter all of Patton; fourteen grandchildren Brian (Stephanie Kibler) Hnatkovich, Jennifer (John) Eckenrod, Julie (Lee) Fitzpatrick, Anthony (Leah Parsons) Vescovi, Darren (Morgan Howard) Vescovi, Samuel T. Vescovi, Eric (Katie Cence) Vescovi, Matthew Strittmatter, Joseph (Rachael Myers) Strittmatter, Christopher (Amanda Fetzer) Strittmatter, Scott Strittmatter, Rebecca Strittmatter, Ashley (Kendal) Rogal, Dustin (Samantha Stoltz) Strittmatter, nine great grandchildren, brothers and sisters Grace (John Krebs) Strittmatter, Lancaster, Pa, Arlene Rager, Virginia, Jerome (Cheryl) Strittmatter, Altoona, sister-in-law Stella Strittmatter, Chambersburg, Pa, brother-in-law Lloyd Miller, Sodus, NY, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Pat and Marsha Sharabaugh. Earl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a Superintendent Supervisor from Cooney Brothers Coal Company after many years of service. He was member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, Commander and President of the Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614 Home Association, and was instrumental in getting the Patton American Legion building. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm Friday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 North Fifth Avenue Patton, Pa 16668, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held from 9 am until the 10 am funeral Mass Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown by Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB assisted by Brother Vincent Yeager, nephew of the deceased. Interment, St. Marys Cemetery, Patton. Full military rites will be accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Patton Fire Company or St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown.
