John R. "Jack" "Red" Wilson

September 19, 1929 - February 18, 2019

John R. Jack Red Wilson 89, of Richland, passed away on February 18, 2019 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born September 19, 1929 in Johnstown, son of George and Clara (Meyers) Wilson. Preceded in death by parents, and first wife Phyllis (Ritter) Wilson. Survived by his loving second wife Helen (Kittka), sons David (Carol), Richard (Kathleen), and John (Jo Ann), stepchildren, Steven Kittka (Lynne), Jeffery Kittka (Cory), Joseph Kittka (Rebecca), Daniel Kittka (Karen) and Amy Kittka, 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also survived by brother William Wilson (Patricia). Jack retired from Bethlehem Steel and Walnut Management Corporation. He was a US Air Force Veteran, serving as a VOM on the B-36 Bomber and 92nd Bomb Wing (SAC). He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Pennsylvania Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4604, 4th degree member of Assembly 954 in Johnstown, member of American Legion Post 551, Air Force Association Chapter 221, and Korean Veterans Post 1. The family would like to thank Dr. Ellenberger, 365 Hospice and all the parishioners of Our Mother of Sorrows Parish, and all the wonderful staff and friends at Arbutus Park Retirement Community for their care and compassion. There will be no public viewing. Jack was also a longtime member of Our Mother of Sorrows where friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM, Very Rev. Mark S. Begly. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. The family requests memorial donations be made to Arbutus Park Manor 207 Ottawa Street Johnstown PA 15904 or to Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 415 Tioga Street, Johnstown PA 15905 in his memory.
