Joseph Bertram

July 13, 1978 - February 16, 2019

Joseph Bertram Joseph Charles Bertram, 40 years old, of Revloc, died Saturday, February 16, of a long struggle with addiction. His passing breaks the hearts of those left to mourn him, including his parents, Joseph L Bertram and Beverly Durbin Bertram Stasik, his three sisters Nancy Bertram Bauman, Jody Bertram, Christy Bertram, his girlfriend Kelly O'Brien, his brothers-in law Andrew Bauman and Brant Sherwood, his grandparents Wayne and Shirley Durbin, dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins, two nephews, a niece, who affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Buddy", and many friends who were an extension of his family. For those that loved and cared for Joey, time spent with him, and thoughts of him, were always hopeful, yet also fraught with a sense of waiting; waiting to see if he would find his way. Our waiting is over, and now our hope is only that he has found peace.
Joseph was born on July 13th, 1978, and grew up in Carrolltown, PA. Even as a boy Joseph was always daring, and sometimes naughty. He enjoyed nature; he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved being on Lake Raystown and the Juniata river. Joseph graduated from Cambria Heights High School. He was employed with Sippel Development. He was a member of several local social clubs where he enjoyed spending time with friends, over drinks and conversation.
Joey joins the ever-growing list of lives that have been taken too early in this region. As his loved ones endure the despair and disappointment of their loss, they empathize with too many others that have shared this experience. We are also left with the question, "how can we prevent these tragic losses of life?" Therefore, in lieu of flowers and to help address the issue of addiction, please consider making a donation to Hearts Against Heroin in Joey's name. In celebration of his life and all the good in him, please join us in our memorial of the life of Joseph C. Bertram on Friday, February 22nd at the Ebensburg Country Club, in an open-house from 4:00-8:00 PM. The Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, is assisting the family

I remember Joey since 6th grade at Cambria Heights. He was always laughing and having fun, also very intelligent when he wanted to be. My condolences go to Joey's family. Addiction is a horrible disease, I am grateful for having 6 months clean and going to continue to stay that way. I struggled for 10 years, before I finally have had enough and found someone to help me through it. R. I. P Joey

I will never forget when Joey was born, he brought joy to the family . I remember Joey playing and his beautiful blonde hair. He was a happy child with great parents.

Addiction is cruel. It touches so many lives, our friends, our relatives. It takes hold, and it doesn't want to let go. We can ask ourselves, "Why"? But sometimes, it is just better to know that Joey we always be loved.

My heart breaks for you Beverly, for Joe, for your beautiful girls. This is such a helpless feeling. Know I care about your days and how you feel. I wish I could help take away your pain.

I love you,

Cheryl

I did not know Joey, but reading his obituary has brought an all too familiar sense back...I applaud this family for not stepping into the shadows over the loss of their family member in such a manner, but to embrace and acknowledge the struggle that has become so real to so many families, not just of one's addiction, but the effects it has on the whole family. I pray the GOOD LORD GIVES YOU STRENGTH through this difficult time.
