96; Johnstown, peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2017 while in palliative care at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born January 3, 1921 in Johnstown, son of Samuel and Julia (Tay) Dzmura. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Lorraine A. Heffelfinger; sisters, Mary Lewis, Madeline Kawchak, Alex Smuro, Helen Yurosko, Anna Kubacka, Julie Bales, and Dorothy Zahoran. Survived by loving wife, of 65 years, Julia Dzmura, Johnstown; daughter, Cynthia A. married to Stanley S. James, Johnstown; and grandchildren, Adam and Breanne James; son-in-law, James Heffelfinger married to the late Lorraine Heffelfinger, and grandson, Jason, great-granddaughter, Allison Heffelfinger; grandson, Aric Heffelfinger and his wife Erin, great grandchildren, Tyler and Camilla Heffelfinger. Also survived by brother, John Dzmura and wife Dorothy, Hooversville. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an extremely hard worker all his life. A crane operator for Bethlehem Steel Corp. Franklin Plate Mill Division with 44 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed cutting wood, working on cars, gardening and doing anything to help his family. He was such a loving, generous, caring father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all. He loved spending time with his grandchildren by teaching them as they grew. A lifelong member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church. At Joes request, friends received Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, the Very Rev. Msgr. Raymond Balta. Committal will be held at Richland Mausoleum. A special thank you to the extremely compassionate caring staff at Conemaugh Hospital Palliative Care for all the special care they gave Joe during his last week of his life.
