93, Fairfax, VA; formerly of Johnstown, passed away May 18, 2017, at home. Born September 14, 1923, in Johnstown, son of George and Anna (Bobko) Gaydos. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Nancy Gaydos; brothers, George, J. Francis, and Andrew Gaydos and sister, Mary Lesko. Survived by loving wife, of 64 years, Dorothy Krivatch of Fairfax, VA; daughter, Sally Ann Gaydos, Ebensburg; son, Kevin Gaydos married to Gayle Baker-Gaydos, of Philadelphia; and grandson, Alexander F. Gaydos. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he attended the field medical school at Camp Lejeune, N.C. before assignment to the Fleet Forces of the 6th Marine Division, serving in the Pacific and Orient Theaters of War. After his discharge, he attended Duquesne University, where he received his B.S. in Pharmacy. Joseph employment included he VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pharmaceutical Representative for Upjohn Drug Co., Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Agency. He was a Scientific Investigation Agent with the FDA in their Over-The-Counter Drug Evaluation Division. In the DEA he worked in the Scientific Division, classifying dangerous drugs and was the liaison for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. A member of the American Pharmaceutical Association and National Academy of Science. He retired after 25 years of civil service. A past member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Johnstown, where Funeral Liturgy will be held 10 a.m. Monday the Rev. Msgr. Raymond Balta officiating. Committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery. Friends received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street.
