70, Northern Cambria, passed away September 18, 2017, at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born January 22, 1947, in Spangler, the son of Stephen and Katherine (Linsky) Karasek. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Patricia M. (Tripodi) Karasek, who died March 18, 2003; daughter, Dawn M. Karasek; son, Matthew S. Karasek; brothers, Anthony and Arch Karasek; sisters, Veronica Pesta and Mary Carol Woods; and sister-in-law, Luella Karasek. Survived by son, Joseph Christopher Karasek, husband of Michelle (Crowley), Reading and granddaughters, Kayla and Melanie Karasek. Brother of William Karasek, NY; Donald (Marge) Karasek, Phoenixville; Stephen (Betty) Karasek, Clymer; Cathy (Dan) Surber, OH; Theresa (Dan) Revak, CA; sister-in-law, Shirley Karasek, Northern Cambria and brother-in-law, Ray Pesta, Shrewsbury. US Army Veteran and member of Spangler American Legion Post 569 and a life member of VFW Post 1586, Hastings. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Retired Coal Miner from Greenwich Collieries and member of UMWA Dist. 2. Member of Rembrandt Club, St. Benedict. Joe enjoyed sports and playing his daily lottery numbers. He was happiest when he was around his family and friends. He had a gentle nature and loved life itself. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Chapel. Fr. Donald Dusza officiating. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
