Josephine M. Vedock

(Wozniak), 101, of Windber, went to be with the Lord January 8, 2019 at Windber Woods. Born October 23, 1917 in Windber, she was the daughter of Leon and Agatha (Drzal) Wozniak. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, John J. Vedock in 1987 ending a marriage union of 51 years, and by her infant son, Eugene. Along with her parents, husband, and infant son, Josephine was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene, Stanley, Andreas, John, and Edward and sisters, Angela Wozniak, Frances Mrocka, Catherine Mrocka, and Bertha Gregory. Josephine Josie was employed for 22 years at Bali Manufacturing in Geistown, retiring in 1974 as a supervisor. Josephine was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Windber. She spent many years helping out in the church kitchen making nut and poppy seed rolls, kolachky and pierogi for various church events. One of her biggest joys was cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed making the traditional Polish Christmas Eve and Easter meals. Josephine is survived by her sons, Edward J. Vedock, husband of Joan (Ploucha) of Flint, Michigan and John L. Vedock, husband of Lois (Barndt) of Reading. Josephine is also survived by six grandchildren, Anthony Vedock, Julie Stanton, Kathleen Vedock-Lorenz, Theodore Vedock, Andrew Vedock, and Andrea Weaver and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Michaline Pierzchala of Dearborn, MI., and Theresa, wife of Peter Delarosa of Windber and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday and also on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. Interment St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Josephines memory to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue Windber, PA 15963.

Jo was my first supervisor at my first job when I started working after graduation in 1964. I will always remember her. rest in peace Jo.
