68, Hastings, passed away June 6, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born January 7, 1949, in Spangler, the son of Leo P. and Catherine (Pittman) Murphy. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Rose Williams. Survived by loving wife of 43 years, Shirley (Solley) Murphy; children, Jennifer, wife of Russell Lehman, WV; Colleen Murphy, Ebensburg; Philip Murphy, husband of Melanie Murr, Bentleyville, PA; and Sarah Dorman, Hastings; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Brother of James Murphy, Bigler, PA; Patrick Murphy, Patton; Harry Murphy, Northern Cambria; John Murphy, Johnstown; Theresa Deckard, Bakerton; Tom Murphy Ebensburg; David Murphy and George Murphy, both of Carrolltown. Leo worked many years as a coal miner and was a member of UMWA. He later worked in the dietary department of Ebensburg Center. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Society, Hastings. Member of L.O.O.M. Leo was an avid sports fan who followed Pittsburgh Steeler football. He enjoyed the outdoors and working in the yard, but his greatest joy was his family, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. A viewing will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment, St. Bernard Cemetery.
