formerly of Summerhill and more recently of Mechanicsburg, passed away at the age of 87 on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Messiah Village, surrounded by her loving family. Lois graduated Salutatorian from Portage High School in 1948 and was the only girl in her class to attend college. She was a proud 1952 Penn State graduate and went on to teach English and Geography. Forever an educator at heart, Lois was a voracious reader who also loved to travel and explore. She was very proud of her four children and ten grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John M. Costello Sr., her parents Isabel Jones and John Leonard Jones. Survived by loving children John M. Costello Jr. M.D., and wife Gina, Upper St. Clair, Pa; Susan I. Lorditch and husband, Gregory, Chalfont, Pa; Margaret A. Plank, and husband, Steven, Camp Hill, Pa; and Amy L. Suhr, and husband Charles, Mechanicsburg, Pa. Lois was also a proud grandmother of ten grandchildren including; Julia L. Costello, John M. Costello III, Thomas J. Lorditch, Daniel G. Lorditch and wife Carley A., James A. Lorditch, Kimberly S. Lorditch, Holly M. Plank, Amy N. Plank, Christine L. Suhr, and Bridget R. Suhr.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March, 24, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St. Camp Hill, PA 17011-5409. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at South Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St. Camp Hill, PA 17011-5409, the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org), and the Organization for Autism Research (researchautism.org).
