Lois M. Dunford
85, died on July 31, 2019. Born in Johnstown to Hurl and Marie (Shaffer) Gohn, who welcomed her to Heaven along with her beloved husband, Walter "Sporty". Also preceded in death by brother-in-law, Paul McKowan and infant sister. Survived by sister, Phyllis McKowan and spouse, Richard Dadonna. Her memory will be cherished by extended family, including cousin Mary Suzanne Basso and the Joe/Ruth Corle family. She was "sister-friend" and travel mate to Polly Strayer and Elsie Fetterman, whose families were her own. Cherished by neighbors George and Kathy Tighe. A 1952 graduate of Ferndale High School, Lois retired from Bethlehem Steel as a bookkeeper. Lois was strong in Christian faith as a member of Oakland UMC. She traveled extensively across the U.S. and was an avid golfer. She was a member of Elks Lodge 175 and former member of Windber Country Club. She will be remembered for her fashion sense, sassy wit, flower gardens, glass clown collection, and having a connection to nearly everyone upon meeting. Friends received 2-6PM Sunday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Oakland United Methodist Church, Pastor Randy Bain officiating, followed by entombment at Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lois's memory can be made to the Building Fund at Oakland UMC, 1504 Bedford St., 15902.
