Louise's Story

87, of Geistown, formally of Coopersdale, died on October 31, 2017. Born January 21, 1930 in Johnstown, daughter of Louis and Elizabeth I. (Kutchta) Stanko. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, daughter Nancy Jo Duray; sisters: Elizabeth Buchan and Mary A. Havas; and brothers: John, Emil and Julius Stanko. Survived by daughter Jefferie wife of James A. O'Leary of Camp Hill and son Mark J. Duray married to Connie (Kozuch) of Johnstown, grandsons Kieran J. and Devin A. O'Leary, special nephew Donald Havas of Johnstown, and close friends Lena Verhovsek, Josephine Workosky and Virginia Kozuch.
Louise grew up in Cambria City and graduated from Johnstown High School in 1947 and from Vo-Tech Nursing School in 1972. She worked at Lee Hospital as an LPN until she retired in 1990. She was a member of the ISDA Joseph Johns Lodge 214 and volunteered as a Cambria County Election Poll worker at Arbutus Park for many years. She loved to go on bus trips to the casino and to spend time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be sadly missed. Friends will be received from 10:30am to 12:30pm on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, EAST HILLS CHAPEL & CREMATORY, 404 Walters Ave. Johnstown PA 15904. (Near PA Drivers Center). Funeral Mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Benedict Church, Geistown, Rev. Fr. David S. Peles.
