87, Brownstown, returned to her heavenly home on September 11, 2017, at Windber Hospice. Born October 7, 1929, in Johnstown the daughter of Emma Kurtz. Preceded in death by her mother; husband, Hilary A. Schrum; daughter, Karen Pinkas; granddaughter, Katrina Ann Pinkas; sisters, Marion Diehl and Ethel Reckner; brothers-in-law, Harry Diehl and James Reckner; and son-in-law, Juergen Mathes. Survived by her children, Rita Mathes; Robin, married to Gary Spack; Douglas, married to the former Bonnie Romig; and Thaddeus, married to the former Sandra Martinek; and son-in-law, Anthony Pinkas. Also survived by grandchildren: Kimberly Weise and husband Jonathan; Christel Kosis and husband Joseph; Tammy Gawel and husband Robert; Eric Mathes; Jacob Pinkas and wife Bethany; Izeke Pinkas and wife Erin; Melia Pinkas; April Hicks and husband Jay; Todd Spack; Adam Schrum and wife Christina; Benjamin Schrum and wife Beth; Caleb Schrum and wife Arinda; Damaris Schrum; Luke Schrum; and Aurora Schrum; greatgrandchildren: Kevin Mathes and fiancée Megan, Alexandria Kosis and fiancé Nick, Mikayla Kosis, Corey Kosis, Tanner Kosis, Danika Kosis, Haley Mathes, Abigail Gawel, Layla Schrum, Conner Schrum, Ethan Schrum, Eli Schrum, Olivia Schrum, McKinleigh Pinkas, baby Schrum; and great-great-grandchildren: Owen Kosis and Caden Murray. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a devoted Catholic and supporter of the old St. Michael Catholic School where she was one of the original candy dippers making homemade chocolate. She was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. She was a member of the Club where she played pinochle every-other Tuesday night. All her life she was a parishioner of St. Michael of the Archangel Catholic Church, Brownstown Borough where funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Fr. Francis Balestino officiating. Friends received from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the FRANCIS G. OZOG FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held.
