Marvin's Story

Marvin (Marv) B. Horoff of Summerfield, Florida, formerly of Fairfax, VA and Johnstown, PA passed away peacefully on February 19, 2018 surrounded by family. Born September 1, 1930 to the late Harry and Ruth (Schmerin) Horoff. Survived by the love of his life, his wife of almost 55 years Margaret (Peggy) (Clark) Horoff; daughters Brenda (Richard) Amy of Leesburg, VA, Harriet Ann (Richard) Gustafson of Ashburn, VA; son, Jeffrey Horoff of St. Petersburg, FL.; grandchildren Heather Amy, Andrea Bird, Travis Amy and Christopher Gustafson; great- grandchildren Bailey Osborne and Triston Amy; sisters Janice Goldstein and Maxine Ikenberg both of Coconut Creek, FL.; brother-in-law Richard Clark; sisters-in-laws Patricia Clark and Jacqueline Clark all of Johnstown, PA.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A graduate of Portage High School and The Pennsylvania State University. Marv participated in the ROTC program at Penn State. At the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War Marv served as platoon leader of Co. A, 35th Regt. Marv enjoyed a successful career with The U.S. Department of the Navy and shortly thereafter, with Navy Federal Credit Union. Marv loved working on his lawn, reading and the New Orleans Saints. Above all, Marv was about family. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 Monday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Rabbi Irvin Brandwein, officiating.
