Matilda's Story

90, of Johnstown, PA, passed away July 16, 2017 after a brief illness. Born September 10, 1926 in Johnstown. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Svana) Belica. Preceded in death by husband R. Donald "Poochie" Ohs. Was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mom was one of 10 children. Her sister, Martha Meister. of Rio Rancho, NM, recently passed. She is survived by loving daughters Vivian; and Karen (Ohs) Taranto (Luciano) and granddaughter Jessica Cunningham (John), grandson Jordan Taranto and great-grandson Nash Cunningham, all of Johnstown. A 1945 graduate of Johnstown High School. Formerly employed at C. A. Young and Bestform, and retired as a supervisor for Quaker State Oil Refining Corp. She was a member of Senior LIFE and St. Patrick Church. Mom loved sitting on the front porch in the summer, enjoyed walking the beaches of Lake Erie and took great joy at watching Presque Isle sunsets. Our "MommaBear" was a great cook and was true to her Slovak heritage in the kitchen. After being apart for 23 years MommaBear and Poochie are jitterbugging once again.
