89, Northern Cambria, passed away November 28, 2017 at Haida Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hastings. Born September 19, 1928 in Irvona, son of John and Catherine (Timko) Markovich. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Jimmy, John (in WWII Conflict) and Alexander and sisters Dorothy and Stella Stottle. Survived by loving wife of 65 years Rose Marie (Rogers) Markovich, son Michael Jay and his wife Sharon A. (Zemrose) of Northern Cambria, grandchildren, Kelly Lynn (Seth) Good of Harrisburg and Brian Michael (Melanie Hood) of Rochester, NY, great-grandchildren Gavin and Alivia, Reagan and Thatcher Michael. Brother of Thomas of Long Island, NY, George of Carrolltown, Rose Slatter of Tennessee, Alice Paronish of Northern Cambria, Jane Zysek of Cleveland, OH, and Joanne Harmon of Tennessee and sister-in-law Sandy Markovich. Mike was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired from Barnes & Tucker #20 Mine, Carrolltown as a general foreman who loved his job. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and very special great-grandfather. A member of former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and present member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:00p.m. Friends will also be received from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Donald Dusza with Military service to follow. Committal Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
