Mildred's Story

(Westover), 94, Hastings, joined her heavenly family on December 16, 2017, peacefully surrounded by her family. Born August 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Clair and Mary (Schlereth) Westover. Beloved wife of William David Barnes, who died July 6, 1984; also preceded in death by their son, Richard; a brother, Clarence and sister, Joanne Paone. Surviving her is a sister, Dolores Ashcroft, Northern Cambria; a son, Robert Barnes, Virginia Beach, VA; daughters, Eileen Kazmer, Freeport; Jeanne (Edward) Hasley, Altoona; Mary Beth (Shawn) McMullen, Hastings; daughters-in-law, Patricia Barnes, Hastings and Susan Barnes, MA; grandchildren, Malissa (Scott) Cole, Tricia (Scott) Meade, Brian Kazmer, Melanie (Eric) Dobratz, Stephen Barnes, Rebecca (Wyatt) Link, Tracy (Tommy) Nagle, Scott Barnes, Sean (Kirsten) McMullen, Mandy Stoltz, Jessica (Tim) Anderson, Marc Farabaugh, Gregory (Trista) Farabaugh and Malorie (Joey) Hamilton. Great-grandchildren include Zoe, Eric John and Drew Dobratz; Levi, Tucker and Chase Link; Abbey, Brady, Mackenzie and Jenna Nagle; Amber Kazmer; Luke, Jacob, Max, Josh and Shane Holfelder; Brian, Hayden, Mason and Katie Kazmer; Drake Kruis, Dahlia Harr, Darcy Hamilton, Marc Jr. and Alice Farabaugh; Bella, Bryr, Beau and Brax Anderson; and Kylie McMullen. Mid retired at age 55 after having worked many years for Commons General Store in Hastings. She did everything from cashier, to sizing shoes for the local school children, to working in the butcher shop. She always felt like Commons was her second family. Mid was also an active member of the Hastings United Methodist Church for more than 70 years, where she served the church community working at all the church dinners until very recently. She was also a member of the SA Kuhns Sunday school class. Mid enjoyed the company of others and was a member of the Northern Cambria Senior Center for over 25 years and also a member of the Hastings Senior Center and the Red Hatters. She will be missed by all of her friends and family. Family and friends will be received from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Hastings United Methodist Church. Pastor Linda Freeburg officiating. Committal, Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mildred to Hastings United Methodist Church.
