95, of Upper Yoder, died peacefully at Arbutus Park Manor - Crossroads on February 5, 2018. Born October 28, 1922 in Johnstown, son of Ased and Dewan (Simon) Azar. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Josephine, Stella, Mary, and Adele, and brothers George and Sam.Survived by his loving wife of 60 years Lillian (Audi), children Mary Ellen wife of Robert Kramer, Michele wife of James Donnelly, and Mitchell married to Rebecca (Regan), grandchildren Hannah wife of Preston Hewgley, Kasey Azar, Katherine Donnelly, and Tyler Azar, and brother, Fred Azar. Mitch was a 1940 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and attended Missouri School of Mines. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mitch retired as a Sales Manager at Prudential Insurance. He was a former member of the Johnstown Exchange Club and the BPOE #175. Mitch was a lifetime member at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, where he served as Chairman of the Parish Council. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 where Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 7 p.m. at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home with Funeral Service to follow at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 111 Alberta Ave. Very Rev. Father Donald E. Shadid. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, Special Projects Fund, 111 Alberta Ave. Johnstown PA 15905, Arbutus Park Crossroads Unit, 207 Ottawa St., Johnstown PA 15904, or to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave. Windber PA 15963 "In Memory of Mitchell Azar".
