Patrick's Story

76, Patton passed away September 6, 2017 after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born August 14, 1941 in St. Boniface, the son of Leroy and Syvilla (Eckenrode) Cence. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara, brothers and sisters William, Earl, Mary Magdeline, Margaret, Georgia and James, infant granddaughter Joyceln and grandson Erik. He is survived by his children Randy (Kristy) Cence, Kelly Jo (David) Brunner, Tracy (Steve) Steinbugl and Ron Cence; brothers and sisters Richard, Leroy, June, Jean, Joyce, Ray, Ed and Carol and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for 20 years as a coal miner and retired as a carpenter. He was a life member of the Patton VFW and Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton. Pat was a loving husband and father and was an incredible grandfather. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. At Pats request, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass 1:00 pm Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton by Benedictine Fathers. Committal St. Marys Cemetery, Patton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund One Intrepid Square W. 46th Street & 12th Avenue New York, NY 10036. Full military rites will be accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Patton.
