Heaven received a Very Special Angel when on January 4th 2018 Permilla "Milly" Ann Evans Sloan, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home in The Villages, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 28, 1943 in Colver, Pennsylvania to Stanton John and Emma Alice (Toth) Evans. On January 9, 1965, she was united in marriage to David Sloan. She is survived by her husband, sons Mark of Kathmandu, Nepal and Neil of Wilmington, De. and granddaughter Emma, who possessed a very special place in Nanna's heart. Also sisters Ruth Stormer, Ebensburg, Pa; Jean Aitken, The Villages, Fl; Barbara Evans, Hollidaysburg, Pa and brother Raymond Evans, The Villages, Fl. She was preceded in death by brother Gomer Evans and sister Susan Doherty. Milly graduated from Central Cambria High School, Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1961. Her career in the clerical/administrative field gave her opportunities to work for state agencies and organizations such as HRB Singer in State College, Pennsylvania. But she most enjoyed her work in the education field where she made lifelong friendships with many teachers and students. She held administrative positions in both the Jersey Shore and South Williamsport High School districts and ended her 30-year working career in 2001 as administrative assistant to the Athletic Directors of Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. After retirement Milly and Dave spent several years touring our country by RV. Their first planned RV trip in 2002 was to spend the winter in Florida where they discovered and relocated to The Villages in 2004. Many RV trips followed to Alaska and the Yukon, all but two states and most of the National Parks. In addition to RVing, Milly's special interests were spending time with her many siblings and their families and enjoying the special social interaction with great neighbors and friends. She loved to sing and belonged to many church and community choirs, most recently New Coverant United Methodist Church choir. She also golfed and loved organized fitness and exercise activities such as "walk away the pounds". A memorial service will take place at New Covenant United Methodist Church on Friday January 12 at 1:00 PM, followed by social time and light refreshments. Internment will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to: Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, PO Box 32141, New York, NY 10087-2141
