91; Upper Yoder, passed away, July 30, 2017 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Born January 25, 1926 in Johnstown, son of Lazo and Milica (Palovich) Povich. Last survivor of his immediate family. Preceded in death by parents; infant son, Danny; daughter, Pamela Koch; sisters, Mildred Nagy, Rose Welle and Betty Ulmer, and brothers, Steve, Michael, Milan and John Povich. Survived by loving wife, Kathleen (Knapp) Povich of Upper Yoder; sons, Richard Povich and wife Sue, Johnstown; and Mark Povich and wife Marilyn of Arizona; and stepchildren, Deborah Ann Esposito and husband Mark, Latrobe; Ray Riek, North Carolina; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Richard, E.J., Rebecca, Bradley, Natalie; Great Grandchildren, Logan, Julianna, Leili and Janice Lynn; and special friend and caregiver Nora. A U.S. Navy, Aviation veteran of World War II. Retired pipe fitter for Bethlehem Steel Corp. Peter was an avid golfer and former Baseball and Softball State Champion. He loved to travel and go to casinos. He was a very happy, caring and loving man whom was affectionately known as Gentleman Pete. A member of the Retired Mens Club, the V.F.W. Post 155 and St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, where friends will be received Wednesday from 10 until time of service at 12 noon, the Very Rev. Fr. Donald Shadid. Committal will be held at Grandview Mausoleum, where Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corp League Ritual Team will perform honors.
