Ruth's Story

72; Johnstown, died September 23, 2017 at Windber Hospice, after an extensive and courageous battle with cancer. Born February 15, 1945 in Johnstown, daughter of Stephen J. and Helen J. (Malinowsky) Kucera. Preceded in death by parents; and infant brother Sonny. Survived by brother, James and wife Diane; and twin brother, Dr. Raymond DMD and wife Cindy, both of Johnstown; beloved nephew, Ryan Kucera and niece, Karlee Kucera. Retired instructor at Hiram G. Andrew Center. She received her B.S. in Nursing from Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh and went on to achieve her Masters from Carnegie Mellon University. Ruth was very involved in the community, with activities in a myriad of organizations. She was a very active member and Choir singer for St. Clement Catholic Church, and she cherished the friendships of her church family, especially in her time of need. Ruth was loved by family, friends and acquaintances, and she appreciated the ongoing visits to hospice and the prayers offered on her behalf. In Ruths words, I have a daily conundrum with this cancer. Friends and family are asked to attend Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm Saturday at St. Clement Catholic Church, the Rev. William Rosenbaum. Private committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory, to Windber Hospice for all their loving care. Arrangements by Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com
