Ruth Elizabeth Ripple age 107, died on November 2, 2018 in Gasport, New York. Born August 11, 1911 in Johnstown, daughter of David H. and Sarah (Noon) Saylor. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl J., son Donald Ripple, daughter Lois Ferguson, granddaughter Cleta Waters, grandson Patrick Whysong, siblings Mabel Crotsly, Esta Webb, Wilbur Saylor, and Mildred Gamelin. Survived by daughter Margaret Whysong, grandchildren Carl Berkebile, Cindy Stranges, Lynn Sharkey, and Lisa Whysong, great grandchildren Dayna Johnson, Dale Goodwin, David Berkebile, Cindi Taylor, Angela Casucci, Louie Stranges, Laura Takach, Christopher Sharkey, Renee Whysong, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving family members. Ruth was blessed with a long life that was rich in family and friends. She was strong in faith and tried to live each day by the Golden Rule. She was a lifetime member of the Roxbury Church of the Brethren. Ruth touched the lives of many people through her humor, wisdom, generosity, strength and love. She placed the needs of others before her own. Ruth cared deeply about her family as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She became a beloved part of many other families as well. Ruth had room in her heart for everyone. She loved to laugh and share stories of her life. She had an amazing memory for detail and could always be relied upon to fill in the blanks in the family history. Her hobbies included baking, candy making, sewing, crocheting and playing cards. Ruth was particularly fond of her years on the farm in Huntingdon where she worked hard and learned to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She did not let adversity get her down, but believed that perseverance and faith would get her through. Just keep on trucking, she would say. Everyone who knew her can recall a warm or funny moment that they will not forget. Her family and friends were truly enriched by having her in their lives. Ruth will be sadly missed.
