Samuel P. LaMantia, 73, of Bolivar, died, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the Palliative Care Unit of Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.
He was born October 19, 1943 in Bolivar, a son of the late Paul and Nancy Lanzarotta LaMantia.
Sam was a faithful member of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church. He had been a barber in Bolivar for over 60 years and was co-owner of LaMantia Auto Parts. He was faithful to his Lord and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by his many wonderful friends and family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy LaMantia and Marie Cunningham and three brothers, Andrew and Anthony LaMantia, and an infant brother.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of twenty-years, Shirley J. (Richardson) LaMantia, two step sons, Eric R. Vogelsang and Bryan K. (Jessica) Volgelsang, all of Ligonier, a step granddaughter who he absolutely loved and adored, Lucy Vogelsang, a sister, Margaret Saxton of Bolivar, two brothers, Paul "Chin" (Audrinne) LaMantia of New Florence and Joseph D. LaMantia of Bolivar, his father-in-law who Sam loved dearly, Roy Richardson of New Florence, and many wonderful friends.
Sam's family and friends will gather together Thursday from 6-8PM and Friday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Inc., 144 East Main Street, Ligonier.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Sam's memory to the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church, 4627 Route 711, Bolivar, PA 15923.
