"Joe", 92, of Johnstown, passed away on January 15, 2018 at Laurel View Village. Born June 11, 1925 in Johnstown, son of Frank and Edith (Altimore) Stumpo. Preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 67 years Pauline E. (Gironda), sisters Loretta Stumpo and Philomena "Fannie" Chirillo and brother in law Joseph Chirillo, brothers Dante "Doc" Stumpo, Anthony "Buck" Stumpo, and Domenick "Mickey" Stumpo, sister in law Marie (Cantela) Stumpo, and brother in law John Angello. Survived by his loving children Edie wife of David Knobloch, Kathy Jaskula, Anthony "A.J" married to Kathy (Young), Frank D. married to Marcia (Orris), David J. married to Lynn (Sabo), and Nancy married to James Curry; Brothers and Sisters Mary (Angello) wife of Eugene Deluca, Frank Jr. married to Jeanie (Manganello), Louise wife of Ed Mattis, James married to Gail (Cordaro), and sisters in law Ruth (Pingatore) Stumpo and Josephine (Anastasi) Stumpo; Grandchildren David M. (Vicki) Knobloch, Jonathan (Kristy) Knobloch, Nicholas (Fiancee Brittany), Katlyn (Tim Maloney) and Carlene Stumpo, Geoffrey and Bryan Stumpo, Christopher and Matthew Arena; great grandchildren Anna, Noah, Seth, Lydia, Abby and Alexis Knobloch; step grandchildren Anthony Giacomo, James Curry (Katie), Daniel and Samuel Curry. Also numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Joe was a 1943 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a Bricklayer. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking and was known for his sharp wit. He loved to attend the local and family sporting events. He was a member of the former Sons of Italy Lodge 1614 and the Harmony Singing Society.
Joe was a Life Member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, formerly St. Anthony Church, Woodvale, where Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018. Fr. Matthew Misurda. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at FRANK DUCA FUNERAL HOME, EAST HILLS CHAPEL AND CREMATORY, 404 WALTERS AVE.
